About Curtis Lovell

Curtis Lovell is a Buffalo-born musician and composer known for his innovative live performances using a loop pedal to create intricate layers of vocals and sounds. With influences ranging from Patsy Cline and Fela Kuti to Janelle Monáe, Lovell has released two albums and is working on a third. He has opened for artists like Cecil McLorin Salvant, Arrested Development, Public Enemy, and Nas. His work has been featured on *This American Life*, and he is currently creating commissioned work for Sam MaGavern's Walt Whitman Exhibition. As Artistic Director for the Ujima Theatre Company, Lovell continues to shape Buffalo’s arts scene with his unique vision and immense talent. He is deeply thankful to his wife, Tioga, his family at Ujima, and his mother, Lorna C. Hill, for their unwavering support and inspiration.
