On Friday, June 19, 2015, the Albright-Knox presented ANIMOTION, our massive summer celebration inspired by the exhibition Screen Play: Life in an Animated World. Guests mingled under an enormous illuminated sculpture by FriendsWithYou; enjoyed video game–themed megabites created for the evening by Rich’s Catering & Special Events, along with beverages provided by Cupcake Vineyards, Magic Hat Brewing Company, and Southern Wine & Spirits; and danced on our Pac-Man dance floor to 1980s tunes spun by Nicholas Picholas from Kiss 98.5 and two sets by the legendary Lloyd Cole.

Guests turned their smartphones into controllers to battle each other in Art Invaders, created by the Canisius College Digital Media Arts Program and projected on the side of the 1905 Building by Projex. They acted out in front of the giant green screen provided by Daemen College’s International Center for Excellence in Animation and took home customized photos from Migz Media Group. They tested their gaming skills on vintage video games provided by Buffalo Game Space and battled on vintage pinball tables provided by Buffalo Pinball. The Villa Maria College Animation Department also presented “Obe: The 3D-Scanning Experience.” All guests received unique swag bags courtesy of Tony Walker & Co. at the end of the night.
