Amy Fisher Price

Amy Fisher Price is an artist working and residing in Detroit after studying at the Art Institute of Chicago. Price re-creates familiar but fading iconography of formerly industrial cities in her stitched banners and flags. Her work has been exhibited widely in Detroit, and she recently completed a residency with the Bed Stuy Art Residency in New York City, although she most often exhibits her work in the places she finds her inspiration.

By giving reverence to the often-overlooked visual language of our cities, much of which is born from a handcrafted tradition that is disappearing, Price not only celebrates the everyday iconography of our shared urban experiences but also forces us to take notice of how that iconography is changing. Whether the artwork is replacing part of a crumbling hand-painted advertisement or hangs like a speech bubble from a neglected property, Price brings life to the built environment.
