Inspired by works in the special exhibition In These Truths, students will explore lighting and compositional techniques, learn painting skills, and create portraits.

About the Teacher

Melinda J. Wright strives to encourage passion and creativity through art. Wright prides herself on having students both young and old develop a lifelong love of the arts. She has a Master of Science in Art Education from Buffalo State. Wright started her career in Fairfax, Vermont, where she developed a K–8 art curriculum and attended the University of Vermont with a focus on Historic Preservation & Gifted and Talented Education before relocating to the Buffalo area and finishing her Master's degree. Wright has been teaching in public schools for the last 31 years, one year at Heim Middle (part-time) and 30 years with the North Tonawanda City Schools. In addition to teaching, she works in several mediums to keep current with ever-evolving art mediums and trends. She is currently focused on painting, acrylic and oil, and expressive ceramic works. Wright has exhibited at the Carnegie Art Center and is hoping to produce more gallery works. She has been teaching and assisting with art classes at the Albright-Knox for the last several years.
